This Fox Model II is a remarkable and unique instrument. It has a terrific response that feels very smooth. The sound is dark but round and easy to get into. This is a very Heckel-like Fox bassoon!
This bassoon also bears a unique logo on the bell. The dates 1951 - 1976 are visible, most likely to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the completion of the first Fox bassoon. It also boasts a French-style bell, which is unusual for the time this bassoon was made. Most older Fox bassoons have a German-style bell.
While this bassoon does not have a high E, it was a wonderful sound and would serve any player exceptionally well. While this bassoon most easily comparable to a 220, it exhibits a warmth that is hard to find in a Renard.
The check price for this bassoon is $8,500; the card price is $8,755.
