This bassoon has been well-preserved! The Fox model I is the original Fox model, based off of Hugo Fox's 5000-series Heckel. This bassoon boasts great response, a warm sound, good pitch, and a great focus. The model I also includes a high E key and extra rollers for the right thumb. These keys were not included on the original Fox Models II and 201.
This bassoon is a great alternative to a 220 or 240. Their response and flexibility is great for ensemble playing of all types, from orchestral to chamber. The included Heckel bocals offer an additional level of robustness to the sound that makes this bassoon even more versatile.
