This older Fox 201 is in great shape! The Fox 201 is a thin-wall, short bore instrument, great for chamber or large ensemble playing. This instrument has a high D key, but no high E key. It has a nice sound with an even scale. It feels very easy to play and push sound through.
This is a great alternative to a 220 or 240! Although this is a 201, it's age means it hasn't benefitted from the last 55 years of improvements that Fox has made in their products. While this is a great bassoon, we do feel that it is most comparable to a Renard, so it would make a great option for an intermediate or advanced player.
