Reedcrest Bassoon Reed

Reedcrest's Christlieb-shape reeds are designed for beginners through expert bassoonists. These reeds have a dark complex tone, even intonation, and great response. The reeds are fit for all styles of playing from orchestral, to chamber music, wind ensemble, and solo playing. The Christlieb shape is a goblet shape with a wide tip. This shape provides stability and intonation in the lower register, easy articulation, and a vibrancy in all registers. The distinctive arrowhead-style scrape on these reeds is a fundamental step in Reedcrest's finishing method. This scrape allows for careful pianissimos, stable fortissimos, and easy articulation.

Upon receiving your Reedcrest reed:

• Soak the reed for at least five minutes in warm water.
• After soaking, play a few scales to warm up.
