Model 750 - A New Kind of Fox Bassoon

Meticulously crafted with the help of leading American bassoonists, the Fox Model 750 bassoon is the next stage in evolution of the Fox bassoon.

The Model 750 boasts a modern bassoon design, taking inspiration from current and recent production Heckel bassoons. In addition, the 750 bears hallmarks of German makers like Walter and Püchner, such as a chimney on the low D tone hole.

The modern Fox Model 750 looks like no other Fox bassoon. Many keys were redesigned and reconsidered to give this bassoon a distinctive look. The result is a sleek, agile-looking bassoon that is unmistakably different, while still being uniquely Fox.

This bassoon packs a punch. The 750 bears the thickest walls of any Fox bassoon. This lends an incredibly powerful sound to the instrument, while providing an breakable core to the sound. As a result, this bassoon has a huge dynamic range, allowing an unprecedented flexibility of volume and tone color. It combines many of the most favorable aspects of the modern (15-16,000 series) Heckels with those of the pre-wars (8,000-series and before). This is a bassoon made for professionals of any ensemble specialty, from solo to chamber music to full orchestra.

Because of the unique development of this bassoon, it cannot be classified by "long" or "short" in terms of bore length. The bore of this instrument is singular among the other Fox bassoons.

Fox Model 750 Keywork Specs

The Model 750 features a standard set of keywork fit for any professional in the field. It has 13 rollers, including a new design for the pinky F# roller. It also has an Eb trill for the right hand, Ab-Bb trill for the right thumb, high E and E/F# trill keys, and a Whisper-A bridge. This bassoon comes standard in the long bell configuration, which is very popular among European players. Additionally, it has a balance hanger included, and newly designed whisper key lock mechanism. There are several convenient adjustment screws throughout the mechanisms of this bassoon that allow the player to fine-tune pitch adjustments without needing any special equipment or expertise.

The aesthetic of this bassoon is made to distinguish itself from other Fox bassoons - it bears the dark bordeaux stain, with the French style bell ring. Additionally,  this instrument is only made with the Mountain Maple, used by most other German manufacturers. Custom orders are possible if you would like other colors or a German-style bell ring. This instrument features the full set of possible key options from Fox as well. Please contact our bassoon department for more information on customizations!
